Replacement UV-C lamps for the sterilisers and UV clarifiers of SunSun, Grech, Jebo and other units of the same rating; lamps of this kind are sometimes fitted to pressure filters as well. The UV-C output kills algae, pathogenic bacteria and protozoa, keeping pond, marine and freshwater aquarium water clear and lowering the risk of infectious disease in the fish. Four outputs are stocked - 5, 10, 15 and 20 W; the 5 W lamp is a PL (PLS) tube 110 mm long with two small pins at one end only. A UV-C lamp should be changed once a year, ideally in spring before the season starts, so that it is at full strength through the summer months. The lamp in the photograph is the 5 W one -- its metal ferrule prints 5W -- and it stands for all four outputs.
