ReeFlowers BioFarm Z-Stones is a biological filter media from ReeFlowers (Turkey), formed from volcanic lava that has reacted with marine water. Its porous structure gives beneficial bacteria a large surface area to colonise, helping to bind ammonia and other toxic waste products and reduce nitrate, phosphate and turbidity. Per the manufacturer, roughly 240 ml is recommended per 100 L of average aquarium load, and the media can be reused for up to about three years in freshwater with periodic rinsing rather than replacement.
