Chinchillas

An active nocturnal pet with one of the densest coats in the animal kingdom.

Chinchillas are rodents native to the Andes and live 10–15 years in captivity. They're active at dusk and night, love to jump, and need a spacious multi-level cage. Care includes regular dust baths in special sand to keep their dense fur clean, hay, chinchilla pellets, and protection from heat — they don't tolerate temperatures above 25°C (77°F) well.
